Just a little over a week until I leave for the big Australian adventure! I’m still trying to get everything finalized, but one of the things I’m very excited to do is that I am going to be staying in a hostel while in Sydney! Yes, I know alot of people’s first thought is the movie Hostel, but I’m thinking the complete opposite. I have chosen to stay at one of the most well known and respected hostels in Australia and I can’t wait. It will be a fantastic way to meet people hopefully around my age and maybe get to do things around the city with them! Again, that’s why I travel. To meet others and get to know they’re experiences from a different perspective!
Ever since I was little I have always wanted to travel to Australia. My childhood hero was Steve Irwin and I am happy to say that I will be able to spend a few days at his zoo in Beerwah! It’s still weird to think that I’ll be at the zoo I grew up watching on TV!
I am also going to try to go diving off the coast of Brisbane, as well as venture out into the outback a bit. I have so much to do!!
Until then, I’m counting down the days!

It seems like we’ve been waiting for a long time but it’s only 8 weeks until our adventure to Seychelles! The idea of being able to be halfway across the world from what we’re accustomed too makes us excited but anxious too! Physically we will be traveling from Chicago, to Dublin, to Abu Dhabi and finally to Seychelles. We will be going from a house that has a bed, unlimited electricity, food that comes from the fridge, electronics around every corner and wifi to very basic living accommodations, no running water except in the kitchen and showers, absolutely no wifi and the only way of getting electricity being a generator for a few hours at night.
It will definitely be a big change, but we are both looking forward to living in a culture that is so much different than what we are accustomed to. Though we won’t have access to wifi where we are staying, we will be able to visit wifi cafes every week or so when we travel to the main islands so we will try to post in the blog as much as we can!
We will try to keep everyone updated in the coming weeks!
Success, happiness, joy, words that throughout our lives are portrayed by images of big houses, fancy cars, and most importantly, money. But is that really all its cracked up to be? Since I was young the image of success has always been, the bigger, the better, but why? This idea of happiness couldn’t be further from the truth. Yes as humans we have basic needs, such as food and shelter, but do we really need any more than that? So many people search for the comforts of life; that big couch, huge tv, and a car with heated seats, but they forget how to truly live. Getting out there, experiencing the world, and most importantly leaving your comfort zone behind is how we are meant to exist, not sedentary lifestyles in which we simply exist, and nothing more. Life isn’t about compromising your childhood dreams to accept a ‘safe’ future, its about living everyday the way YOU want to and not accepting what is ‘normal’. We have become accustomed to the idea that you must wait for opportunities to present themselves to you when in reality opportunities are all around us, you just have to take that leap and go for them! When you look back on your life in twenty years, you won’t remember that night you watched tv and surfed the web for no reason, you’ll remember all those times you took a step out of your comfort zone and did something different and incredible, you’ll remember all the people you’ve met and all of the experiences you’ve had. So just remember that success isn’t always defined by money and houses, it’s defined by all the experiences you’ve had in your life and the priceless memories you’ve made along the way.
“Many people die at twenty five and aren’t buried until they are seventy five.”
